There are five basic steps to making wine. Each has its own unique benefit and need in the process.
1. The first thing that must be done is to extract the flavor from the ingredients. To do this, you’ll need to use some method such as crushing, pressing, soaking, and boiling or another method.
2. In the next phase, you’ll need to add in the different ingredients that make the flavor and consistency the right thing to actually produce wine. This may include adding acid, various other nutrients, sugars and then finally yeast. Here, you’ll need to use the right ration to allow for the product to ferment, which will take some three to ten days. The right temperature and vessel must be used.
3. In this process, the liquid must be strained from the pulp and placed in the second fermentation process. After several weeks in the right conditions, the process of fermentation happens.
4. The sediment must be moved off the wine now. You’ll need to again move it into a new fermentation vessel and allow it to ferment for an additional month or more.
5. At the point where the wine’s fermentation process has stopped and the wine has become clear, the wine can be placed into bottles and corked. Even still, it’s important to allow the corked wine to ferment over a few months in order to reach the most beneficial flavor and texture.
Wine making can be done in other ways, too. In addition, there are various recipes that can be used to make the wine that much better. If you are considering a wine making adventure, take the time to look at several methods of making wine so that you can find one that fills your needs.
